A particularly considered massage for mums to be during or after pregnancy (prenatal or postnatal massage); aimed to relieve the pain and tension that builds up on the joints, ligaments and pelvis. From 3 months onwards.
Same as regular massage, its goals are to relax tense muscles, ease sore spots, improve circulation and mobility, and a general feeling of well-being. However, it’s also tailored specifically to the needs of pregnant women and their changing bodies with the therapists adjusting their techniques accordingly.
Because of the growing size of your belly and breasts, you will be ask to side-lie instead or facing down or lying flat on your back facing up. Tender and swollen areas and sore spots will be worked on too (lower back, legs, ankles). Several pillows will be used for support and to make sure as comfortable as possible.
If not providing some relief to the physical discomforts and emotional ups and downs experienced during pregnancy, it will at least help you cope with them better.
